Starting the Conversation: NHVRTA Connects with Lawmakers Before Session Begins

As the New Hampshire legislative session approaches on Jan 7, (NHVRTA) has reached out to state senators and representatives to introduce the organization and share our mission. Our message highlighted the vital role vacation rentals play in supporting local economies, providing diverse lodging options, and helping residents stay in their homes. We also emphasized the importance of balanced, collaborative policies that protect neighborhood character while sustaining New Hampshire’s tourism industry. By connecting early with lawmakers, NHVRTA is laying the groundwork for productive dialogue this session—and ensuring vacation rental owners and tourism partners have a strong, unified voice in upcoming discussions.

Legislative Watch: Stay Tuned

Several bills expected in the upcoming legislative session may affect short-term rentals across New Hampshire. NHVRTA is closely monitoring these proposals and will keep members informed as details emerge. As opportunities arise to share feedback or testify, we’ll reach out so your voices can be heard. Together, we can help shape fair, balanced policies that support responsible hosting and a strong tourism economy.

What Would Thoughtful STR Legislation Look Like?

Some members have asked whether NHVRTA will be proposing a model short-term rental framework for New Hampshire. Before we do, we want your input. What do you think makes sense—registration, permits, inspections, or something else entirely? Tell us what a fair, workable approach would look like in your community. Your feedback will help shape NHVRTA’s policy recommendations as we move into the legislative session.

We’d love to hear your perspective on what makes fair, effective STR policy.

From Pacific Legal

A new Supreme Court case, Lathfield Investments v. City of Lathrup Village, could have major implications for property owners nationwide.
